I am on the 3 network using a Windows Mobile smartphone that did not come from 3. I would like to be able to make free Skype calls which is apparently available to all 3 customers. Is this possible without a Skype enabled phone from 3? Someone told me I need to install a special version of Skype from 3 but if such a thing exists I cannot locate it.

I had a Skype chat less than 1 hour ago using PC. When I switched my S2 on it reported No active (skype)chats. I wonder when the status No active chats is reported. Does it mean there must be some activity after I switch on mobile for it to detect an existence of a chat? Just being curious divoch

I'm toying with the idea of buying a new laptop - most of which seem to come with Windows 7 these days. I would like to be able to use my S2 with it for occasional internet access when away from home. ISTR that one or two people have mentioned that there are some issues with using the S2 under Win 7. Would anyone care to elaborate as to what these are, and what you have to do to resolve them...

Hi! Great news about use of AQuA software - now you can easily test voice quality in your or any other mobile network just by using your Nokia N82 mobile phone and Sevana AQuA software. Here is how you can do it. First of all do you know that you can record phone calls you make with your Nokia N82 phone? During a phone call just hit Menu on your keypad, select Applications Media Recorder....

Hello, thanks for reading this. I don't know if there is an appropriate help/group for advice in regard to: My mobile phone: Nokia 7210 has gone over to 'silent' on receiving incoming calls. I don't hear a thing, I've tried to change settings, been to a factory re-set but to no avail....? I really would like to sort this out so any answers of help/advice will be gratefully accepted, or, any...

I've seen several mentions here that you can use £5 out of your 3 PAYG balance to buy an internet add-on, however it's taken me a bit of digging on 3's website to try and find the details. So AFAICS: - I buy an "Internet Max" add-on for a fiver which lasts me 30 days. - This gives me 1G of download. What's not so obvious - can I use the 3internet apn and use my Skypephone as a modem out of...

3Pay SIM on APN three.co.uk. Has anyone any experience with them blocking some ports? It appears SMTPS (I think that's port 465) is being blocked - but I'm trying to diagnose this over the telephone so am not sure what's going on. Are they trying to force you into using 3Mail? Do they block other ports? I thought they were fairly lax, but port 24 didn't seem to work either. Thanks Theo

Many thanks to whomsoever suggested Giffgaff. I ordered a SIM with £10 top-up, activated it, put it into my Nokia, and made a phone call. Easy. It even reports the top-up balance immediately after terminating a call or sending a SMS. Now I need to port my regular no. from Carphone Whorehouse Fresh PAYG contract. Interestingly CPW mailed me a PAC no. within a week with no attempt to offer me a new...

I wrote a letter to Three at least 4 weeks ago about the inadvertant over-run of my data allowance because My3 was down for quite a while and I couldn't monitor my usage. Today Customer Services in India called me and explained that very many customers had had the same problem with My3 being down. As far as I can tell My3 was taken down in order to upgrade the security levels - previously these...

Start up S2 and Skype and login. Go to Contacts - all Skype contacts will be listed - Skype ones and those linked to landline nos. &/or mobiles. However usually it is only possible to send a Skype 'chat' to Skype contacts, not to any linked to mobiles. However there's an easy work around to achieve this. 1/ On a PC / Laptop start up Skype and login. Then set up a contact to a mobile no. e.g....

For the transfer of my Orange number to 3, which took place more than 2 weeks ago, I should get £10 credit. Looking at the balance in My3 there is 0.92p labeled as Won't expire but £10 is labeled as Queued. Why and what does that mean? divoch P.S. I haven't got a clue where 0.92p came from.

I've reported on earlier occasions that my laptop always crashed as soon as I connected my S2 to it, even though the S2 worked ok with my desktop computer. The *good* news is that I have finally got the S2 to connect to the laptop without crashing it. I have done this by creating a Profile in which I've disabled all hardware which I don't actually need when connecting to the internet -...

When you make a Skype call on a 3 Skypephone S2, how is the call actually conveyed? There is a number in the phone book (Skype Service +447838333600) which probably has something to do with it, but it is not possible to call this number directly (calls fail). I have read that it doesn't use the data network somewhere, but haven't heard a proper explanation. JP

What PIM apps are standard on Android ... and are they any good? I've been Googling myself blue in the face trying to find this out, and can't seem to find any hard information. I imagine there'll be standard apps for diary/calendar, contacts, note taking, etc., but what are they like? Hi My daughter has a BB 8520 on Orange PAYG. She does not have the BIS package. In the usage history there are 52 £0.02 charges described as GPRS ap-prepaidsessio of 3.0Kb. The Apple ipad is coming out in the uk by June, it seems, it has been announced that the version which has 3g data capability will be unlocked (though Apple have an agreement with ATT to provide what appears by american standards a monthly no minimum term contract which allows 250mb for $14.99 a month, pretty crappy by uk standards but good for the US), the iPad will work on any standard 3g...

My wife, who only uses her phone for long conversations, got a contract deal from 3 a year or two ago where she gets 700 minutes for £15 a month. She is delighted with the tariff. However, she is not delighted with the rubbish handsets they give her. She is quite happy to buy her own sim free Blackberry or i-phone but has been told unoficially that if she puts the 3 sim into her own high-end...

Hi, I recently bought a Tesco SIM card. It works OK but there are a couple of things. 1) There are some numbers stored in the sim already, all start with such as "Home phone 8000680818". I have tried deleting these and they seem to go but when I switch the phone off and back on they return! any way round this? 2) How do I turn off the balance alert text ?

In addition to my 3 PAYG phone (with not much credit) I took with me a phone fitted with new 3 Zero SIM - just in case I needed it. However, I forgot to activate roaming before going. I only realised this when seeing "Emergency calls only" displayed on the phone's screen. I wonder whether I would have succeeded in making a call to 112 . Has anyone actually tried it? regards divoch

I have just returned from a trip to Denmark where I was unable to use my Vodafone (pay as you talk) to make calls. Texts worked fine. I contacted Vodafone customer services and they told me (1) they have no agreement with any Danish network, (2) that I would need to do a manual network discovery to make sure I was connected to the correct network (thus contradicting 1) then (3) they have no...

I get conflicting opinions as to whether I can plug my Nokia 6700 into my laptop and use it as a dongle for websurfing and emails. I would appreciate replies from anyone who has actually done it rather than just opinions, but all information would be gratefully received. The phone is on a £10 per month contract.

Hi, First post here today. I am looking for a new screen for the Vodafone 810. I can't find one anywhere. I have been trying to cross-reference one from the www. Within the last 48 hours Orange have altered their Answerphone menu, and ini my opinion it is WORSE. Before you had 1 to listen to message 2 to save 3 to delete 4 to have a free text sent with the number of the person who left a message. # to return the call using normal call rates.
