I am on the 3 network using a Windows Mobile smartphone that did not
come from 3. I would like to be able to make free Skype calls which is
apparently available to all 3 customers. Is this possible without a
Skype enabled phone from 3? Someone told me I need to install a
special version of Skype from 3 but if such a thing exists I cannot
locate it.
If you are Julian Moss?
It's a bit sad something that took me a minute to google you couldn't
do yourself

The calls on 3 won't be free, but will come out of a £5 per month
internet bolt on, which will also cover your planet 3 wap and internet
use

That expects a good internet connection, such as a WifI connection. It
doesn't really work at all over the 3G mobile internet with it's typical
latency of 120ms to 200ms and beyond.
If you'd googled a bit before answering you'd know that it's not how 3
do it.
;-)
There are special apps for Skype and MSN messenger for '3'. You need to
go to 'My 3', on a computer, (doing this from memory)... select 'My
mobile'. When you have the correct mobile displayed progress from there
and a green menu appears on the RHS of the display. Choose the bottom
option. That should take you to the downloads that you require.
I haven't actually done the downloads myself but a friend has a k530i,
not originally on '3', and needed to find the apps.
But if they don't list your phone you have to experiment and find out what
works yourself.
You don't need a special MSN messenger app because any normal one will
work fine over a 3g internet connection.
I have heard rumours that the special 3 app is actually a custom version
of the app I suggested.
I haven't experimented myself since I am now on Vodafone.
3 list my phone SE K810i as compatible but sw download still fails
