Looking for better SIM card backup s/w for my SIM reader

I have a SIM card reader, which came with software called SIM
Secretary, which is rather basic and just wondered if there is any
good, free software out there to allow me to manipulate the SIM card
contents...

I assume that you are using Windows, but you don't say.
If it is a Nokia then use the Nokia PC Suite. Download from th eNokia
web site after joining the Nokia club.
If not a Nokia check out your manufacturer's web site and look for
something similar.
If you decide to pay then LogoManager is good.
If you are using Linux there are several applications that may work.
