In addition to my 3 PAYG phone (with not much credit) I took with me a phone
fitted with new 3 Zero SIM - just in case I needed it. However, I forgot to activate roaming before going. I only realised this when seeing "Emergency calls only" displayed on the phone's screen. I wonder whether I would have succeeded in making a call to 112 . Has anyone actually tried it? regards divoch |

I seem to remember an agreement that emergency calls would still be allowed even if a phone has no credit. I think that call can also be made using a different network if only network available is different to the phone's own network. I am sure Google could provide the answers. |

It depends on each countries emergency call arraignments. e.g. the UK has only just arraigned for phones with sims to be able to make emergency calls roaming on UK networks. Don't assume when roaming you'll automatically have access to anything You can have roaming activated whilst abroad by calling your UK networks CS Steve Terry -- Get a free Three 3pay Sim with £2 bonus after £10 top up http://freeagent.three.co.uk/stand/view/id/5276 |

This message means "The SIM inside this phone has been denied access to the network" - in this case becuase it had not been registered. Denied access to all the networks it can currently see. It is also implicit that the phone can see at least one network. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

However, as one of the main reasons for having a mobile with me abroad is for emergencies I am curious whether it would have worked had I needed it and my credit on PAYG run out. It was Gran Canaria. regards divoch |
