Default Is Three the cheapest?

My wife, who only uses her phone for long conversations, got a
contract deal from 3 a year or two ago where she gets 700 minutes for
£15 a month. She is delighted with the tariff.

However, she is not delighted with the rubbish handsets they give her.

She is quite happy to buy her own sim free Blackberry or i-phone but
has been told unoficially that if she puts the 3 sim into her own
high-end phone, 3 will cut off her service and confiscate her number.

What is the best way for her to retain her tariff and number and get a
top-of-the-range phone? She doesn't mind paying for an i-phone but
wants to keep her contract.

AS long as its a 3g phone there will not be any problems.
I have been using a Nokia n79 for over 2 years and have a contract with 3.

As long as she uses it in a 3G phone, she'll be fine. I've been using my own
N95 8GB for a couple of years on 3 now with no problems at all.
