it appears the contacts are the same, just a smaller plastic carrier. So in theory a pair of nail scissors would fix the problem?- You can get twin sim holders that allow you to use two normal sims together in the space normally taken up by one sim - you have to chop the sims down so that all of the plastic is removed and you are just left with the metal bit. I bought a special tool to do this with as it's very hard to do with scissors. Maybe once the iPad comes out my tool will be in demand!! |

From looking at the wikipedia page, it seems the uSIM is bigger than 50% of the size of a normal SIM. So it wouldn't make it easier to fit in twin SIM holders. I wonder if someone is going to come up with a uSIM to SIM adaptor? Otherwise once you've cut your SIM down to uSIM it's a pain to use in a normal SIM socket (especially those where the SIM goes in a slot, rather than under a clamp). Theo |

I don't think using uSIM with u intended to imply the greek letter mu meaning micro is going to be wise, as it may become ambiguous with USIM, and not all uSIMs may necessarily contain USIMs after all the recent editing of that page, they're left with worse example images than not long ago actually the relevant dimensions are 25 x 15 and 15 x 12, so the two alongside is just possible somewhere I was reading about this, the person realised that one of the things supplied with the dual SIM kit was a holder to go back to single, so perhaps these will be available separately from places, though they'd be of almost nil cost ...... perhaps people can prodiuce their own, depending whether the original cutting is with scissors or a punch |
