The Apple ipad is coming out in the uk by June, it seems, it has been
announced that the version which has 3g data capability will be unlocked (though Apple have an agreement with ATT to provide what appears by american standards a monthly no minimum term contract which allows 250mb for $14.99 a month, pretty crappy by uk standards but good for the US), the iPad will work on any standard 3g network, but said it needs a 'micro sim'. I havent come across a micro sim before, are they common place here in the UK? Are they available on request? I have a great little contract with 3g, but inside their usb dongle is just a standard sim. Anyone experieince with mini sims? |

Steve It not *that* long ago that SIMs were credit card sized! Its always a question of space. Since the handsets got smaller, smaller sims were needed. The ipad is just the next step, therefore this development is the consequent step. Apple was always a leader in technology. When it comes to the ipad, small devices require small simcards. :-) Chris But the iPad is surely quite *big* compared, for example, with a mobile phone. Smaller and smaller devices may be fine for youngsters with good eyesight and nimble fingers - but what happens when they grow old? Do they stop using them? -- Cheers, Roger ______ Email address maintained for newsgroup use only, and not regularly monitored.. Messages sent to it may not be read for several weeks. Yes indeed - and my wife's still got a phone (albeit no longer in use) that you put the whole thing into without having to press out the small bit and use that. -- Cheers, Roger ______ Email address maintained for newsgroup use only, and not regularly monitored..
