Default BB Bold - password protect emails?

Is it possible to password protect emails on a BB Bold the same way that
the phone can be set to auto-lock?

A friend just got one and he is rather worried about loosing the phone
and the finder having open access to his emails.

Yes, password protect the phone itself.

Not too hard to find: Options - Password

Thanks. Will that automatically request a PW after, say, 20 seconds of
inactivity?
