Help required - my daughter has purchased a Samsung Blade from Voda by
way of a contract renewal She can make and receive phone calls from the phone and she can also access the web. What she cannot do is set the phone up so she can send and receive emails - which was the main reason for changing to the phone in the first place! We've set it up thus: Access name Internet SMTP Server send.vodafone.net I/C Server type IMAP4 I/C Server imap.1and1.co.uk Connection Security None Use secure auth No With the above setting she cannot send or rx emails - she gets no fail to send messages and i get no fail to deliver messages. We,ve spoken to Vodafone and they conf that the above setting are correct and that all sould work OK I suspect that we may have missed something and therefore hence the failure to work. Any suggestions as to what the proble could be would be much appreciated -- Cheers Peter (Reply to address is a spam trap - pse reply to the group) |

Yes, entered the password my daughter uses to access her emails from her laptop Are you trying to send mail via your GPRS/UMTS connection, or are you using a wireless connection? Not sure - I've assumed that she is using a 3g connection, not wireless (She's in London, I'm in south Wales - one of the problems!) 220 gps17-c15d5.vodafone.net ESMTP Service (NPlex 6.0.021C4.14) ready ehlo voda 250-gps17-c15d5.vodafone.net 250-AUTH=LOGIN 250 SIZE data 530 Authentication required -- Cheers Peter (Reply to address is a spam trap - pse reply to the group) |

Yes, entered the password my daughter uses to access her emails from her laptop ....which presumably isn't the password for Vodafone's SMTP server, unless 1and1 is providing hosting for Vodafone. Or your daughter is accessing a Vodafone email account from her laptop and a 1and1 account from her phone. -- http://ale.cx/ (AIM:troffasky) ) 17:23:10 up 11 days, 22:14, 5 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 DIMENSION-CONTROLLING FORT DOH HAS NOW BEEN DEMOLISHED, AND TIME STARTED FLOWING REVERSELY |

Or your daughter is accessing a Vodafone email account from her laptop and a 1and1 account from her phone. She accesses her 1+1 account from her laptop using 1+1's IMAP and SMTP servers. On her Samsung we've set it up such that she uses 1+1's IMAP server and VodafonesSMTP server The Vodafone Help centre PDF entitled How to configure your device for email doesn't call for a password for the Voda SMTP server "send.vodafone.net" Further down the list of instructions it asks for the IMAP4 server which we've installed as "imap.1and1.co.uk" and are using the same password as she uses on her laptop. I can appreciate that one may be wrong, but that if it was the SMTP server info she should be able to rx emails and vice verca, but having a problem getting my head around them both being wrong :-( -- Cheers Peter (Reply to address is a spam trap - pse reply to the group) |
