Default Blackberry for usa?

My niece lives in usa - Florida
She wants a Blackberry Bold 9000
She can get one there, but on a 24 month contract, which she doesn't want to
commit to.
She was wondering if I could get her one in the UK sim free, and if so how
much?

Any ideas?

That's probably too much. You can get an AT&T-branded 9000 from
Amazon with no commitment for $400, or for $450 from AT&T. The
AT&T phone will be SIM-locked, but if she's a customer they'll
unlock it for free.

Better, though, is that with a two year contract AT&T is selling
the phone for $200. Since it costs no more than $175 to terminate
an AT&T contract early (the Early Termination Fee is actually
$175 less $5 for each month of service completed before termination)
that would make the total cost of the phone no more than $375.
A UK phone would have to be less than £250 to save money.
