... It's a 6210 - it is not 900Mhz only. Maybe it has a fault that only effects 1800MHz. -- Brian Gregory. (In the UK) To email me remove the letter vee. |

I've concluded that it must be faulty on 1800Mhz as Steve suggested. If it
were lost/stolen there shouldnt be connectivity on Voda and O2. The seller has agreed to have it back so watch out if buying a 6210 on eBay next week! JL "R. Mark Clayton" wrote in message ... "JL" wrote in message ... Purchased an old Nokia on eBay a few weeks ago and been using it with a Vodafone SIM with no problems. When I insert an Orange SIM I get signal for a few seconds and then it disappears. Selecting 'Orange' on a manual network search gives a 'No Access' message. Thought there was something funny happening with Orange but I've since tested all networks and am thinking the handset has possibly been reported stolen: O2 and Vodafone - No problems, will register and make/receive calls Orange and T-Mobile - Brief registration with good signal and then signal goes. Manual search gives 'No Access'. If the IMEI was barred surely I shouldn't be able to make calls using O2 and Voda? Does it sound like the IMEI is barred or something else? If so, any way I can get this bar lifted...not sure I'll have much luck, but might try ringing Orange in the morning... Orange are a bit extrapolative on their interpretation of blocking stolen phones. As far as Orange are concern, if there is a billing dispute they block the phone. |

I don't understand how it would be unlocked on 900 but not 1800Mhz, though?
I also don't know what network I should pick for the unlocking? It seems to be accepting all SIMs... Thanks -- JL "Steve Terry" wrote in message ... "JL" wrote in message ... No need, you've managed to buy a single band GSM900 handset. Ain't ever gonna work on Orange or T-mobile (which use GSM1800) I'm afraid. If that was the case, 'Orange' wouldn't appear on a manual network search. |

Thanks JL You don't know what network it was originally on? That's a problem, code generation depends on knowing which it was on give it your best guess It's unlikely but an outside chance that it's been only partially unlocked A selection of levels of unlock codes are available Follow the procedures on those online code generating sites i listed for a full unlock Steve Terry -- Welcome Sign-up Bonus of £1 when you signup free at: http://www.topcashback.co.uk/ref/G4WWK |
