Recent phoning hacking scandal by
Rad
I wonder how the News of the World was hacking so many phones. I would
have imagined brute force attacks would have been detected very quickly
and nipped in the bud?
I remember a number of years ago O2 used to have a default voicemail PIN.
Rather than only allow external access if you changed your PIN, people
could access the voicemail of any O2 customer that hadn't changed their
PIN from...

Return SMS to the USA? by
Les Hemmings[_2_]
Recently, on my vodafone PAYG Nokia 6303 Classic I got a call from the US. I
tried to return an SMS but it bounced a few days later..
The person is in my contacts list and the number was harvested from their
call. In the format +1716xxxxxxx
Does anyone have any idea how to get a text through? At their end they have
checked with their telco and there is no block on international sms.
We used...

Phone dead? by
Steve[_19_]
Have a N95 black - battery drained last night and when I plugged it in,
nothing. Also nothing with my spare charger - although that sometimes has a
bad connection depending on the angle its plugged in.
Need to get a new phone anyway I think, but in the mean time, I need to get
contacts and data off it, and back it up. What's the best way of achieving
this? Pretty confident it will run with a...

"Refresh the network" by
Paul[_6_]
Just got off the line to T-Mobile because for the last week or so any
mobile calls I receive at home are unintelligible - the other person
can hear fine, but at my end it's just garbage.
Anyway, the customer service bod said that he would "refresh the
network" and that would fix it by the end of the day.
Anyone know what "refresh the network" actually means, or is it just
nonsense?

Unlocking w200i Vodafone by
Tosh
HI My son rec'd a new W200i for Xmas and was gutted to find that it was
locked to Vodafone and he can't use his Tesco sim card in it.
I've had a quick Google and there seem to be a few people claiming to
unlock for £20+ unfortunately he's a kid and doesn't have £20 to spare
and I can't help out with all the Xmas bills to pay.
Is there a cheaper or free option? I can understand a network...

O2 and using a 3G phone for internet connection. by

Aha! Thanks. Didn't occur to me to search for such an old-fashioned term. I
didn't think there was much modulating or demodulating going on in modern
phones.

Paying Monthly by
Gared Haus
I'm guessing most of you folk here are on pay monthly price plans, right?
I have been a PAYG customer for the last 10+ years and was thinking of
moving to a Pay Monthly contract. I figured this would be better for
me as I could have a better phone and mobile internet all included in
my contract.
I'm open to suggestions if I should stay with Vodafone or move to
another company - as long as...
