Mobile Phone by Ivor Jones
"Alan" wrote in message ... Hi, I have been offered a new mobile phone by a friend but to me the price seems too low. Working on the assumption that if something seems too good to be true it usually is, how can I check the phone is legitimate i.e. not stolen etc?

Motorola 2700 International and new SIM Card by Chris Wilkinson
I have a Motorola 2700 which is a permanently installed car phone which I like to use particularly on long journeys as the hands free kit is excellent. Recently upgraded hand held phone to one which includes GPRS and eventually decided that I needed a new SIM Card. The old one was chewed and well worn. The new SIM card works perfectly with the Nokia 9210 and a friends 02 XDA but not in...

Faulty 3310 on Virgin by Nathan Higgins
My mum uses a 3310 on Virgin Pay&Go which I bought at Christmas, the other day it started acting funny so took it back to Comet for replacement. They said they don't deal with this and to contact Virgin directly - I thought ok this is going to be fun.. not. Anyway I contacted Virgin yesterday (Saturday) at 3pm, after explaining the faults the operator said 'would tomorrow be convenient to get a...

GSM Divert Codes & Times by Chris Harris
Ok, my new Orange phone (T610, new contract) took 30 seconds before a call was diverted to Answerphone. I got a replacement due to a fault, and now it takes 20 seconds. Ok, so I sent the following code to put this back to 30 seconds: **61*07973100123*25*30# However, if I cancel all diverts (##002#), then the answerphone goes back to 20 seconds.

Argos 7250i PAYG £300... by Chris Flowers
If you're thinking about popping down and geting one, don't bother! Nowhere has them in stock yet, presumably because they haven't been fully released yet - despite what the new Argos catalogue implies. -- www.ukbitcharg.co.uk - The UK's no.1 stop for Micro R/C! #ugvg on irc.uk-net.org (6667 or 6668) - the U.G.V.G IRC channel

What are the GPRS settings for the 3 network? by Anon
Ok, getting slightly worried now! I got a 3 USIM so I could get cheap calls, sell the handset, and use the USIM in my 2.5G phone (SPV). Are you saying I cannot access WAP or WWW via 3? They must have GPRS settings - I was under the impression that the 'walled garden' was a limit built into the handsets as I heard there was a hack for one of the models that allowed proper web access. Also...

Restoring an operator's logo by Hugo Nebula
I have a Nokia 6210 on Orange through work. Last week my old handset went tits up, so they gave me an old 6210 that had been returned by someone else. The only problem is that the previous user has changed the logo for something that's not to my taste. I've read through this group, and the normal route seems to be to get another logo sent to the phone, but all the sites I've tried seem to cost...

Three PAC? by Tariq Atchia
Hi, has anyone managed to get a PAC out of Three yet? Seems like a strange request, but I have a SIM on 3toGo, but I rarely use it, and the number is very good, so I want to transfer it elsewhere. Do Three have a mechanism for issuing PAC numbers? Does anyone know how to go about getting one if they do issue them? Thanks for any information. Tariq

Ericsson T39 "no network" error by Hugh Davies
My T39 is 18 months old - and therefore out of guarantee - and it has just developed the "no network" fault. The date of manufacture is 2001 Week 47. This is within the period where it is been established there was a problem. Has anyone had their phone repaired successfully in the UK? Did the problem come back? I know I can send it to Celestica in Telford with a cheque for

Orange tariffs as clear as mud by orange_is_best
I challenge anyone to find out what you pay for calls outside the 'your plan' bundle. Depending on where you look, O-mag, or their website, I think, you get different answers. I also notice that they have made this information more difficult to get off their website. I do believe trading standards state these companies must provide clear and unquestionable information. !!!! What is going on with...

Is free (sagem my - X6) cheap/good enough? by Roger the cabin boy
Orange have just offered me this phone free as part of an upgrade. Is it any good? Just wondered why they would offer a "Brand new" (just added to the range) phone for free instead of the usual £100 or so. The other phone I was looking at was the Orange SPV E100 (but that was £99)

6610 abroad by James
I'm going to Barbados tomorrow with my 6610. I'm assuming it will work, but the 02 site says something about manually selecting a band - does this just mean manually selecting a network? Is there anything else that has to be set up for the phone to work? Thanks James
