Default Android 9 Pie trick: Add the System UI Tuner widget to your homescreen to change which status bar icons display

Android 9 (Pie)
1. Add Nova launcher free as your app launcher
2. Long press anywhere on the home screen empty space
3. Press "Widgets" in the Android 9 Pie GUI
4. Touch & hold the "Nova Launcher" widget
5. This brings up a red/white "Activities" screen
6. Scroll down to "System UI" (green p)
7. When you tap "System UI", more "System UI" icons show
8. Choose the last item, "System UI demo mode"
9. That puts the "System UI Tuner" shortcut on your homescreen
10. Select that shortcut and accept the warnings
11. You can turn on or off lots of things from here
12. For example, you can decide which status bar icons display
o Auto-rotate screen
o Headset
o Work profile
o Cast
o Hotspot
o Bluetooth
o Do Not Disturb
o Volume
o Wi-Fi
o Ethernet
o Mobile data
o Airplane mode
o Battery (always show percentage, don't show this icon, show percentage while charging)
o Time (Show hours, minutes & seconds, hours & minutes, don't show this icon)
