this is cleearly another variation of that other bunch of fraudsters
who were msquerading as i think it was freedomobiles.co.uk or

Why would a reputable company elect to hide their address details in
the whois?

That's in breach of Nominet's Ts & Cs anyway. You can only elect
to have your address omitted from the whois database if you're an
individual - not if you're a limited company.

And if you're not a limited company you can't describe yourself as
"<Anything Limited".

Either way they're doing something inappropriate (if not illegal).

If they've set the registrant name as that of a Limited Company, but set the
registrant type as individual, and then elected for whois opt-out, they've
done nothing illegal - just against the T&C - and likely the worst that'll
happen is the registration will be ammended accordingly, certainly it's
highly unlikely the registration would be cancelled for this reason.

Nothing illegal about this - it would only be legally dodgy if they weren't
a ltd company and had called themselves one.

I think you have got your information mixed up somewhere.
Freedomobiles.co.uk are a legitimate company that have been trading on the
Internet for years. I've bought from them loads of times. They are not only
just web based but have a shop front.

I have nothing to do with them just a satisfied customer, who would
definitely recommend.

Steven.

Who the right mind sends money to someone operating from what seems a
mailing address and obviously if the stuff is from Thailand then
there is a chance they have been closed down by C&E.

A search at Companies House (http://ws6info.companieshouse.gov.uk/info)
this morning suggests that this *is* what they're doing. I believe this
is actually a *criminal* offence!

Of course, it's not just the UK that has Limited companies, so they
*could* be legitimately registered as a Limited company elsewhere.

However, I'm sure there's also some e-commerce directive (if not the
business / company names acts) that says you must have full company
details on an e-commerce site. Which they don't do either...

I did another check:

Domain Name:
freemobiles4all.co.uk

Registrant:
Free Mobiles UK Limited

Registrant's Address:
38 Ampthill Road
Maulden
Beds
MK45 2DH
GB

Both the recent outbreaks of scamspam were posted from NTL broadband
accounts within the Bedfordshire area.

There is no company called Free Mobiles UK Ltd registered in the UK.

Indeed, to clear up any confusion:
http://www.freedom-mobiles.co.uk/
is the URL of the well-known and well-respected dealership, run by
Scott Allison I believe.

Jon and Steve are both correct. Scott's company is very legit and
hsa been going and will hopefully continue to do for years.

Please do not mix up Freedom Mobiles with the above company
and any other similar type names.

what is with all the whining and whinging!??!

it seems as though you have plenty to report to the police and to companies
house, you dont need indisputeable evidence that a crime is being commited
just reason to belive it is so. report it. you have enough details to be
going on with.

at the very least this is pyramid selling isnt it??? i thought that was
illegal now in the uk?

Ah, depends what you mean by pyramid selling? Some apparent pyramid selling
schemes are actually well regulated network marketing businesses approved by
the DTI. Then again, there was 'Women empowering women' and these 'mobs for
peanuts' schemes which are very dodgy indeed! (neither of these latter two
seem to have any viable product of service with which to sustain the
business)
IANAL
